It’s like being a civil engineer hired to design a city’s infrastructure. Instead of drafting plans and laying foundations, you spend all your time in public forums debating whether hostile architecture is bad. Meanwhile, developers who don’t share your values are actually pouring concrete. So that means while you are debating, the assholes are building the hostile city. In this case, Bluesky.

Yes, debates are important; however, the problem is when the people capable of building alternatives spend more energy signaling their values than constructing viable replacements. In a vacuum of execution, the most organized or least restrained actors define the landscape. Again, Bluesky.

You folks spend all of your time arguing instead of actually engineering anything.

The only thing that fragments me from other people in the Fediverse is when they start doing shit like this (https://lemmy.world/post/29072279). Obviously, I'm gonna try to distance myself from them. Idk when I ever said I wouldn't take criticism, and if I ever harass devs over petty stuff at any point, call me out, but building a better internet means building a BETTER internet.

I am not a developer. This post was made to point out how the Fediverse has problems, but that those outside of it shouldn't dismiss it because of the actions of a few assholes. At the same time, we should be doing what we can to distance ourselves from those same people, because they're assholes. I don't see the problem here.
