It’s like being a civil engineer hired to design a city’s infrastructure. Instead of drafting plans and laying foundations, you spend all your time in public forums debating whether hostile architecture is bad. Meanwhile, developers who don’t share your values are actually pouring concrete. So that means while you are debating, the assholes are building the hostile city. In this case, Bluesky.
Yes, debates are important; however, the problem is when the people capable of building alternatives spend more energy signaling their values than constructing viable replacements. In a vacuum of execution, the most organized or least restrained actors define the landscape. Again, Bluesky.
